I’m an interior designer, author, former retailer and all around entrepreneur.
My company, L&M Designs, has won numerous awards for our residential interior design work including Best of Interior Design by Spaces Magazine in both 2008 and 2009. In 2010 I was named in the “Favorite Designers” of the DC Design House, and was included in the 2011 Top 100 Designers Portfolio published by Home and Design Magazine.
Throughout my retail career I have received many honors, including being nominated for Home Accents Retailer of the Year in 2008 and winning the Presidents Award from the Accessories Resource Team. I became a speaker for the industry in 2005, and went on to form Best Friends Marketing with my best friend Susan where we publish my book “The Absolutely Essential Guide to Planning Fabulous Retail Events” that is a must have for independent retailers across the country. www.bestfriendsmarketing.com
Additionally I am the Design Director for Virtual Golf Girl, LLC, a company that specializes in creating luxury virtual golf rooms using the worlds finest High Definition Golf Simulator. It’s the ultimate grown up playroom for those who love to golf or just love having the BEST toys!
From my own magazine column for Home Accents Today Magazine to being featured in shelter magazines and newspapers (and even the CBS Early Show) across the country I love sharing what I do with others. I truly believe in the Independent Retailer, and have always shared advice, tips and of course my own mistakes along the way to benefit my peers in the industry.
I have been described by the former editor of Home Accents Today magazine as ‘sassy, a whirlwind, passionate about retail and unforgettable’. I think that pretty much sums it up!
My goal is to create my own lifestyle brand of furniture and accessories, all based on my premise ‘DRESS YOUR HOME’. Investor interest welcomed.
I love Washington DC because there’s no place like it in the world! We’ve got fabulous restaurants, museums, parks, galleries, and shopping that continues to amaze me every day. Whether you want a fun night out on the town, or a quiet afternoon enjoying the great outdoors there’s something here for everyone. I love being a part of such a diverse social network…meeting new people is easy here and for social butterflies there’s never a lack of fun things to do!
I’m a suspense novel junkie, a food lover (whether cooking or enjoying new restaurants) and I’m always on the hunt for the next ‘new’ thing whether it’s in furniture design, a great new boutique or a place I haven’t explored before. The thrill is in the hunt, and I enjoy being inspired by the unexpected. Travel is always at the top of my list, whether it’s on a plane or just hitting the open road with my sunroof open. My motto: Live life to it’s fullest!
