Ardeshir, MicroStrategy Desktop and MicroStrategy Web both feature the same great options for personalization, including prompting, security filters, and roles. A single report instance can serve tens of thousands of users, automatically customized for each. Both the MicroStrategy Web and Desktop interfaces provide the highest level of user self-service as well, enabling even the most novice of users to perform personalized analysis in an ad hoc fashion.
As for security, MicroStrategy products are based on a multi-layered security model, which controls:
- Access to BI functionality for each
user
- Report objects each user can use
- Cell-level data each user can access
With both MicroStrategy Web and Desktop, the use of firewalls between the web server or desktop client and MicroStrategy Intelligence Server is supported. With MicroStrategy Web, secure connections using SSL/HTTPS are supported.

I remember using Microstrategy web a few years back in my previous company. We could login just using our username with no password in the standard mode. Using their Web admin configuration page, we figured how to setup the LDAP authentication
