With the 2012 Presidential election in sight, all candidates have been very active on all social media channels. They are fully aware of how social media is playing an ever-growing role in politics. They all remember how social media put Obama into the White house. What they are missing this time around is the number of their followers against those following President Obama on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube.

@BarackObama has 11.5m followers, @newtgingrich has 1.4m, @GovernorPerry has 109k, @MittRomney 201K, and @RonPaul has 131k. Given the power of social media, it's obvious who will win in Nov 2012. Why don't the GOP presidential candidates just close shops before wasting more of their money?
